George Hiatt

Organist and Choirmaster

Dear St. Johannes family:

I want to thank each one of you who attended the oyster roast and contributed to our music program. And, I especially want to thank Mary Lou and Lloyd Waitschies for hosting the event, and those of you who helped set up and clean up afterwards. Many of you were not able to attend and you faithfully gave contributions anyway. I want you to know how much I personally appreciate your support. Your generous gifts enable us to accomplish much more than we would be able to do otherwise; and this makes decision-making and planning so much easier. You have always been very generous and that is a hallmark of this congregation. Your gifts enable us to have singers and instrumentalists, and also helps us to properly maintain our fine Austin pipe organ, Baldwin grand piano, the new Yamaha upright piano in Gatch Hall, and our choir room piano. Our musicians are able to put our best foot forward into our community because of your generosity and I am indeed very grateful to be here.

With thanks, George Hiatt

We are very fortunate to have an assortment of excellent instruments at St. Johannes.
Pictured above are our Zimblestern, Austin pipe organ, Baldwin baby grand piano, and harpsichord.

Chancel Choir

The chancel choir is made up entirely of volunteers from the congregation. We welcome anyone who is interested in singing in the choir, and no prior experience is necessary.  Choir rehearsals are normally held on Thursday evenings at 6:30pm, right after the evening Taizé service.  The choir sings during our Sunday morning traditional services.

If you are interested in joining the choir, please feel free to email our Choirmaster.
